Meet our Wedding Coordinator
I started as Meeting and Events Manager at The Belsfield Hotel in July 2021, but have been a wedding planner at various venues around the UK and overseas for nearly 7 years.
No two days are the same, you get to meet so many different people all with completely different visions for their perfect day. I still get emotional watching a couple say their vows now and seeing their reaction to the venue and the set up on the day after months and months of planning is so rewarding.
A wedding day is hectic from start to finish but there’s so many lovely little moments, seeing a bride and bridesmaids getting ready in the morning, the moment the father see’s the bride in her dress for the first time, before they meet with the registrars before the ceremony and everything becomes really real and nerves set in, to after the ceremony when the couple become totally relaxed and enjoy a glass of champagne together. Especially this year seeing big groups of people coming together again and enjoying themselves is lovely to see. Knowing that the couple are relaxed and enjoying themselves and that our team has helped make that dream a reality.
Myself and my team are on hand all day to look after the Bride and Groom, from first thing in the morning ensuring they have both had breakfast and have everything they need, to sorting the brides dress before she walks down the aisle. We ensure the day runs seamlessly and the teams are prepared for each section of the day from ceremony up until evening reception. We organise external suppliers, assists in decorating the rooms and add all the finishing touches before we take the couple to see the room and ensure it’s everything they hoped for.
Finding a wedding venue can be completely overwhelming so I always think it’s good to view LOTS of venues, to get an idea of what they do want and just as importantly what they don’t want. Decide what are non negotiables and stick to them. Have a list of questions ready to ask your co-ordinator before you arrive for a show around. People say choosing the right venue is like buying a house and you’ll know once you view it, but don’t be afraid to arrange multiple viewings with family or friends.
Have a list of questions before you book, once you have booked a venue make yourself familiar, we encourage couples to come in for menu tastings, stay at the hotel etc so they become really comfortable in the surroundings and get to know the team. It can be an overwhelming process but it can and should be enjoyable. And send your invites and menu options out early because people are never great at responding!!
Decide how they want the night before the wedding to look and stick to it? Do they want a big family get together with food and drinks? Are they going out with the girls? Or is it an early night? Whatever it is get organised before you arrive. If they would benefit from a last minute sit down with the wedding co-ordinator for one last run through of things arrange this a couple of weeks prior. Once all the bits are dropped off there should be a sense of relief that everything is done and dusted, try not to over think anything. It’s time to get excited.
Aside from being a beautiful setting the Lake District has sentimental value to many couples which makes it a popular choice for a wedding location. The Belsfield Hotel is lucky enough to have unrivalled views of Lake Windermere and surrounding hills, teamed with elegant décor inside and perfectly manicured gardens outside, we can make pretty much any wedding dream a reality – Cocktails and canapes on the Terrace in the summer, fireworks overlooking the lake in the evening, A Grand staircase for all important bridal shots and an opulent restaurant for the wedding breakfast, it really does tick all the boxes.
